Where we now stand with Chiefs assistant coaches for 2019

Back in the days of the Chilly War, Kremlinologists attempted to figure out what was taking place at the higher stages of the federal government of the Soviet Union by finding out images of Soviet leaders at general public appearances. Only Spagnuolo’s hiring — and the retirement of Thomas — have been formally introduced by the Chiefs. The Packers and Bears formally introduced the hires of Smith and DeLeone, and equally were taken off from the Chiefs roster of assistant coaches.

When it was described that Merritt had been employed as defensive backs mentor, the presumption was that the positions of equally Thomas and secondary/cornerbacks mentor Al Harris could be in jeopardy. With Thomas’ retirement, Harris’ situation appears more tenable, but we really don’t know that for certain.

Also unidentified is the status of Britt Reid (son of head mentor Andy Reid) who is nonetheless shown as defensive line mentor. The original report that Daly had been employed as Chiefs defensive line mentor appeared to be stable, and Daly is not now shown as a Patriots assistant mentor.

It could be that the Chiefs are waiting around for the more youthful Reid (and probably Harris) to find positions elsewhere just before producing an official announcement about all the coaching variations. That would seem to be to be dependable with Andy Reid’s management model — significantly when a person of the assistant coaches in question is his personal son.
