Spencer Ware considered to be day-to-day with hamstring injury

Kansas City Chiefs running back Spencer Ware remains to have a question mark in terms of his availability for his team’s upcoming road game against the Seattle Seahawks this coming Sunday.

According to Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, Ware is dealing with a hamstring injury that has him deemed as day-to-day as of the moment, via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

“Spencer is . . . making progress with his hamstring,” Reid told reporters on Monday. “That was the primary thing. He tweaked it. It’s not a severe hamstring, but just enough to where he couldn’t open up for the game. He’s making progress there, we’ll just have to see on that, day-to-day.”

Ware missed last week’s 29-28 mild upset loss to the Los Angeles Chargers at home due to issues with his hamstring and shoulder, though, Kansas City never missed him that much, thanks to the productive performance of Damien Williams. The fifth-year tailback, operating as Kansas City’s No. 1 running back in lieu of Ware, rushed for 49 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. He also led the team with 74 receiving yards on six receptions and six targets.

Should Ware gets ultimately ruled out for the Seahawks game, Williams, together with Darrel Williams, will shoulder most of the responsibilities in Kansas City’s ground attack against Seattle’s defense that’s ranked 15th in the league with 112.3 rushing yards allowed per contest.

Spencer Ware is set to hit the free-agent market at the end of this season.
