‘Patty Flakes’ first of many upcoming endorsement deals for Chiefs QB

Patrick Mahomes is going to be a hot commodity for endorsements this offseason.

His unorthodox and exciting style of play has taken the NFL by storm and he’s quickly become one of the most recognizable and popular players in the league. That makes for a great combination for brands and endorsement deals looking for a new face to their products.

Mahomes’ agent Leigh Steinberg recently joined the Bloomberg Business of Sports Podcast and elaborated on one of the upcoming endorsements for the Chiefs’ young quarterback. We got a teaser of this one back in September, but now it even has a name. He’s going to be launching a new cereal brand dubbed, “Patty Flakes.”

That’s right folks, Mahomes is going to have his own breakfast cereal. He’s no longer going to be competing against just NFL talent, but he’ll be competing with Tony the Tiger, Tucan Sam, and Captain Crunch for his share of the cereal market. Steinberg didn’t reveal what brand would be manufacturing said cereal, but we’ll soon find out as the 2019 offseason is rapidly approaching.

Steinberg and Mahomes attacked this season with a plan regarding endorsements. The goal with Mahomes has always been for him to avoid any big endorsements during the NFL season. His focus has purely been getting better as a football player and finding success on the field. They’ve stuck to that during this season for the most part, with the exception of an endorsement with Executive AirShare, who fly’s Mahomes and his family too and from games.

You have to wonder how many different brands are lining up with offers to try and lock up the Chiefs’ star quarterback. We already know that some Ketchup manufacturers have reached out to him. I wonder what types of products will be coming next.
