Chiefs sign running back Damien Williams to extension

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs have signed running back Damien Williams to a two-year extension, according to multiple reports.

Yahoo Sports

,

the Kansas City Star

and the NFL Network all reported the deal on Thursday night.

According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport the deal has a maximum value of $8.1 million dollars.

Williams’ agent tweeted a photo of his client signing the contract. The Chiefs have not confirmed the extension.

Williams has filled in at running back since the Chiefs released Kareem Hunt and since Spencer Ware’s injury.

So far this season, Williams has 39 carries for 205 yards and three touchdowns. But he did not have double digit carries until week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

He saw the most action last week against the Seahawks. During that game, Williams rushed for 103 yards on 13 attempts and caught seven balls for 37 yards and a touchdown.

Williams and the Chiefs close out the regular season Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium against the Oakland Raiders. If the Chiefs win, they clinch the AFC West and the number one seed in the AFC playoffs.
